Each person is unique, as is their addiction. An Individual Treatment Plan (ITP) is formulated for every client. This ITP focuses on all maladaptive mechanisms and forms the framework for each client’s personal rehabilitation and development. ITP’s are comprised of specific program components, designed to holistically treat the physical, psychological, behavioral and spiritual aspects of addiction.
THE 12 STEPS
The 12-Step Approach at SCRC
At SCRC, the 12-Step programs of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) form a foundational part of our treatment plans. The 12 Steps offer a structured path to recovery, promoting self-awareness, accountability, and personal growth through spiritual principles. This tried-and-trusted method has been instrumental in millions of successful recoveries worldwide.
While highly effective on its own, the 12-Step approach becomes even more powerful when combined with individualized therapy tailored to each person’s unique needs. Therapy complements the 12 Steps by addressing underlying psychological issues such as trauma, anxiety, and depression that often accompany addiction. Together, the combination of the 12 Steps and appropriate therapeutic interventions provides a holistic recovery strategy, focusing on the mind, body, and spirit.
Why the 12 Steps Are Effective
The 12-Step model is well-regarded for its emphasis on community support and the spiritual journey toward recovery. By promoting introspection and personal responsibility, the program encourages individuals to take ownership of their recovery. The structured format helps break the cycle of addiction through a step-by-step guide for achieving sobriety, maintaining accountability, and developing a sense of purpose.
Each step serves a purpose, from admitting powerlessness over addiction (Step 1) to making amends (Steps 8-9) and maintaining ongoing recovery (Step 10). These spiritual principles, when applied diligently, lead to profound personal transformation.
Enhanced Recovery with Therapy
For even greater efficacy, SCRC integrates the 12-Step program with therapeutic techniques like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused therapy, and family counseling. This comprehensive approach addresses the root causes of addiction, helping individuals not only cope with cravings but also heal emotionally and mentally. Through tailored counseling, we adapt the 12 Steps to the individual, enhancing personal growth and improving long-term recovery outcomes.
Together, the 12 Steps and therapy form a balanced, evidence-based recovery strategy, giving individuals the best chance for sustained sobriety.
GROUP THERAPY
At SCRC, group therapy plays a pivotal role in addiction recovery by fostering a sense of community and shared healing. Group therapy provides individuals with the opportunity to connect with others who face similar struggles, creating a supportive and understanding environment. Participants share personal experiences, gain insights, and develop a sense of accountability, which is essential for long-term sobriety.
One of the greatest benefits of group therapy is the opportunity to learn from others. Hearing different perspectives allows individuals to better understand their own journey while receiving encouragement and support from peers. It helps break down feelings of isolation, which is common in addiction, and builds a network of recovery-focused relationships.
Key Benefits of Group Therapy:
- Peer Support: Sharing experiences with others in recovery builds emotional support and fosters collective healing.
- Accountability: Group settings encourage individuals to stay on track with their recovery goals.
- Learning from Others: Listening to others’ stories provides new perspectives and coping strategies.
- Sense of Belonging: Group therapy helps reduce the isolation that often accompanies addiction.
- Encouragement and Motivation: Witnessing the progress of others can be an inspiration to stay committed to the recovery journey.
Incorporating group therapy into our treatment programs ensures clients not only receive support from professionals but also benefit from the shared strength and wisdom of their peers.

RELAPSE PREVENTION PLANNING
At SCRC, Relapse Prevention Planning is a crucial element for ensuring long-term recovery success. We adopt a proactive approach, requiring each individual to develop a personalized Relapse Prevention Plan before completing any of our programs. For those in our 6-month and Long-Term programs, this includes additional requirements such as a Life Plan and Warning Signs document. These plans are crafted with the assistance of our therapeutic team and involve input from family members, ensuring a comprehensive strategy.
The focus of the Relapse Prevention Plan is on:
- Routine and structure: Establishing daily routines that promote sobriety and prevent relapse triggers.
- Goal-setting: Creating short- and long-term goals to motivate recovery efforts and personal growth.
- Balanced living: Encouraging a well-rounded lifestyle that includes healthy relationships, self-care, and hobbies.
- Drug-testing and accountability: Using regular drug tests and accountability checks to maintain transparency.
- Recovery conditions: Identifying conditions and environments conducive to maintaining sobriety.
- Consequences: Outlining potential consequences of relapse to strengthen commitment to staying clean.
- Safe re-integration: Gradual re-entry into society, minimizing the risk of relapse.
In our Long-Term program, 2-3 weeks are dedicated solely to carefully constructing these documents, ensuring a robust and tailored plan for each individual. This planning process is a collaborative effort, combining professional guidance with family involvement, and prepares individuals to navigate challenges beyond treatment.
Our goal is to empower clients to leave treatment with the tools and strategies necessary to safeguard their sobriety for the long term.
